Nationwide – Environmental attorney and acclaimed advocate Raya Salter, widely known as the Climate Auntie, has officially launched her groundbreaking podcast, Tea with Climate Auntie. The podcast educates and empowers Black youth and families on the critical issues surrounding the climate crisis and environmental injustices affecting communities of color.

In each episode of Tea with Climate Auntie, Salter delves into a range of vital topics, including the impact of climate-related disasters, advocacy for vulnerable communities, global renewable energy development, and the fight against air pollution. Through insightful commentary and interviews with experts in various fields related to climate change and sustainability initiatives, Salter provides listeners with a behind-the-scenes look into the environmental justice space.

“It is urgent that Black communities understand how climate and environmental racism impacts our health, safety, and pocketbooks – and what we can do about it,” she said.

For the past two decades, Salter has been at the forefront of the battle for climate and environmental justice, tirelessly advocating for Black and brown communities throughout the world. Her efforts have garnered national media exposure as she appears regularly in print and on television/multimedia including CBS, NBC, Huffpost, the New York Daily News, and the San Francisco Chronicle, as a subject matter expert.

She is also a published author, speaker, and professor who has testified before Congress on multiple occasions about environmental justice and big oil misinformation. In 2022, Salter’s testimony on big oil went viral after she stood her ground against a GOP lawmaker who went on an offensive tirade. From protests to policy, Salter continues protecting underserved communities from the impacts of the climate crisis and energy policies that disproportionately impact them.

A clean energy policy expert and environmental justice advocate, Salter is one of the leading Black voices in the fight against climate change. She is recognized nationwide and internationally for her expertise and efforts as a climate and environmental justice advocate.

Salter conducts her critical advocacy work through her organization, the Energy Justice Law and Policy Center, and a local community coalition known as the Energy Justice Alliance. She is also a member of the New York Climate Council and sits on the national policy table for the Movement for Black Lives network.

Her areas of focus are communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis, particularly Black and Brown communities that face its most dire effects. This includes communities in the U.S. and the global south, which see a disproportionate impact from climate disaster and devastation.

“This is why climate reparations are such an important issue and are intertwined with the urgent need for Black American reparations,” she said. “Climate change is not a distant threat; it’s a present danger. We must act now, not only for ourselves but for future generations.”

The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
