Real Men Cook will continue its 29-year tradition of men cooking and serving their special dishes to the public in an outdoor setting.  This year’s celebration will be held at Hales Franciscan High School, 4930 S. Cottage Grove, from 3-6 PM on Father’s Day, June 17.

However, for the first time in its history, the event will have an added option: Dining indoors at the beautiful, Quarry Event Center, 2423 E. 75thin Chicago’s South Shore Community.

While the outdoor festivities will remain the centerpiece of Real Men Cook, men will have the option to enjoy Father’s Day in an elegant air-conditioned indoor setting. Held at the exact same time as the outdoor gala, this sit-down event will be a white-tablecloth dinner option at the Quarry Event Center, 2423 E. 75thStreet, headquarters of Real Men Charities, sponsors of Real Men Cook.  This upscale addition to the Real Men Cook festivities will feature a four-course-meal prepared by Executive Chef Edwardo Bey, Chef Sean Myers and a team of other Black Chicago chefs.

Parking at both venues is free. The Quarry offers convenient parking in the adjacent venue lot.

There is a $45 charge for the dinner, with proceeds being split between Real Men Charities and Hales Franciscan High School.

Ayinde Cartman, Executive Director – Real Men Charities, revealed that the decision to host a sit-down dinner originated when several men expressed interest in enjoying “their” day in a fashionable setting with family members while capturing the spirit of the outdoor Real Men Cook event.  Because Real Men Cook is committed to serving barbecue, and other standard fare, as well as healthy foods, men will get the full complement of dishes.

With Real Men Charities’ recent acquisition of the Quarry, with a shared kitchen and professional chefs based there, Cartman realized that this was the perfect time to accommodate this request.

“The Quarry has become the trendiest place on Chicago’s Southside because its atmosphere is welcoming, intimate and stimulating,” said Chef Bey. Cartman noted that the Quarry hosts Jazz, Blues and spoken word events in a supper club setting, making it a popular entertainment hub. He said the Father’s Day celebration would capture the spirit of love that this day represents.

“The Quarry staff plans to add to the magic of Father’s Day by creating a particularly special celebration for Dads. The staff will extend itself to assure that everyone who comes through the doors has a meal as well as an experience.”

Tickets must be purchased by June 14 and can be bought by logging on to realmencook.com.
