Legendary Blues Artist Buddy Guy and Chicago Bears Great Otis Wilson and others to be honored during Sec’y of State Jesse White’s celebration for African-American Heritage Month

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will host a Celebration for African-American Heritage Month today at  the James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph, Concourse Level today (Thursday, February 17)  from noon to 1 p.m.

White will honor legendary blues artist, Grammy winner, and entrepreneur Buddy Guy, whose music and guitar expertise has influenced musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards and Eric Clapton.  He has earned six Grammys, including the one he received this past Sunday and been recognized as one of the greatest guitar players alive.

 Chicago Bears great Otis Wilson, and Ariel Investments chairman John W. Rogers, Jr., as well as other business owners will also be honored during the celebration of African-American Heritage Month.

The Celebration for African-American Heritage Month event honors and recognizes the many contributions made by African-Americans in the city of Chicago and state of Illinois during the month of February which is African-American Heritage Month.

The Jesse White Tumblers will perform at the event.
