Kohl’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, which opened in September, features the artwork of W. W. Denslow, a Chicago resident whose famous illustrations helped to inspire the design of the classic 1939 MGM film as well as Disney’s new film. The bright and colorful display provides a variety of learning opportunities and hands-on activities within a three-dimensional representation of Denslow’s distinctive illustrations. The exhibit brings L. Frank Baum’s classic story to life with interactive tornado video displays, a Land of the Muchkins costume and puppet station, the Wicked Witch’s Castle and more. “The various sections of the exhibit focus on various content areas, including science, math, storytelling and the arts,” said Museum President and CEO Sheridan Turner.
