Illinois Education Association endorses Sec’y of State Jesse White for re-election

 Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has been endorsed by the Illinois Education Association(IEA) for re-election in the upcoming November general election.                                                          

“It’s an honor to receive this important endorsement from the Illinois Education Association,” White said. “I’m proud that they recognize our efforts to improve this office.”

The Illinois Education Association represents more than 133,000 men and women in support of education. IEA is a state affiliate of the National Education Association.

As Secretary of State, Jesse White is also the Illinois State Librarian. He oversees 5,000 libraries and 225 literary programs across the state. Secretary White offers literary awards and contests to encourage students to keep writing and learning in Illinois. In April 2010, Secretary White announced the Illinois winners of the “Letters about Literature” national contest for students in grades 4-12. Over 6,300 million Illinois students took part in this year’s contest.
