Da’ Wiz and Rello Hill Prove that hard-hitting Hip Hop beats and conceptual lyrics can co-exist without sacrificing creativity for mainstream audiences

Los Angeles, CA (BlackNews.com) — Producer Da’ Wiz and rapper Rello Hill aren’t interested in following popular trends or jumping on the latest rap bandwagon. Their latest release “Autumns Equinox” is proof of that. Rello who was one of the top 3 finalists in the 2012 National MC Search, sticks to the time tested tradition of riding hard-hitting Boom Bap beats with imaginative, thought provoking lyrics for Hip Hop fans everywhere craving authentic rap music. What makes this project different from other indie releases is that it accurately captures the classic sound of mid 90’s East Coast rap while still sounding current.

“Autumns Equinox” is a conceptual EP which touches on themes such as death, rebirth and the constant struggle between good and evil. The album’s title is symbolic and represents the overall vibe of the project. Rello says, “Autumn is the season when things die in order to eventually be reborn. It’s an on-going cycle. An equinox happens twice a year and it’s when night and day are the same length. Again, it’s an on-going cycle. The album explores a variety of topics but what connects them all is this constant ebb and flow that we all experience in life. With that said, the beats bang and if you’re not into lyrics, you’ll still get that good old Hip Hop sound!”

Producer Da’ Wiz manages to keep the album as soulful as it is introspective with his use of hard drums and melodic 70’s samples. “Take Me Away” ft. vocalist Joy Shackleford on the hook gives Rello a nostalgic backdrop to a story about self doubt, criticism and triumph over obstacles. “Who Are You” ft. Frank the Phresh starts off with an excerpt of a Malcolm X speech which sets the tone as Rello and his partner in rhyme trade verses about the challenges of developing a healthy identity in such a crazy world. In true Hip Hop fashion and to balance out the album’s heavier themes, tracks like “Eloquent” and “Work” display Rello’s witty wordplay and battle ready skills.

Rello concludes, “I put my life into this project and tried to show various aspects of what makes me who I am without sugar coating anything. I think Hip Hop heads worldwide who are thirsty for classic rap will be pleased with the results!”
