Brown County’s one-of-a-kind fest is sure to be a finger pickin’ good time

NASHVILLE, Ind., (July 12, 2019) – Two days of pickin’ perfection, the Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival is back for an eighth year, July 26-27 in Brown County. From a fun kick-off party to a world-class competition and concert, this one-of-a-kind fest will feature the country’s finest fingerstyle guitarists, pickin’, pluckin’ and playin’ away!

A weekend filled with toe-tapping fun, guests will be dazzled by the art of fingerstyle playing and the sheer talent of top guitarists. Festivities will get underway on Friday, July 26 with workshop sessions at the Brown County Inn. Not only will these sessions be led by International Guitar Champions, but they also will be great for taking your fingerstyle game to the next level. Offered at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., workshops are $20 each. Pre-registration is encouraged online at https://indianastringfest.com/event/guitar-workshops/.

The finger pickin’ fun will continue with the Friday Night Kick-Off Party, also at the Brown County Inn. This year there will be not one, but two stages of music to enjoy. From 6 p.m. – 10 p.m., guests can head to the Town Hall room for 15 show-stopping guitarists. A cash bar and special BBQ menu will available as well. Cost is $5 at the door. Festivities on the other stage will ramp up at 8:30 p.m. in the CornCrib Lounge and will last until 11:30 p.m. On this stage, guests will be treated to the fingerstyle sounds of Daryl Shawn. There is no charge to listen to tunes on this stage and the Brown County Inn’s standard menu will be available.

Ready for more? Saturday, July 27 the fingerpickin’ will return with the fest’s main events: the competition and concert. Beginning at 11 a.m. at the Brown County Playhouse, 30 of the country’s top fingerstyle guitarists will battle it out for a grand prize and bragging rights as the best! Spectators are sure to be amazed by the skill flowing from the fingertips of this year’s competitors.

At 7:30 p.m. the top three finishers from the day’s competition will take the Playhouse stage during the evening concert, delighting guests with their pickin’ prowess. They will be followed by acclaimed artists who will finish out the evening concert. Three International Fingerstyle Champions, Christie Lenée, Helen Avakian, and Muriel Anderson, are all scheduled to don the stage on Saturday night.  

Tickets to Saturday’s competition are $16.50. Saturday evening concert tickets are $24.50. Concert tickets may be upgraded to VIP status for $34.50. VIP ticket seating is in center section.
