Cook County State’s Attorney Alvarez Celebrates African American History Month

23rd Annual C.F. Stradford awards ceremony honors a judge and radio executive 

 

In recognition of African American History Month, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez along with members of the office’s African American advisory council will present C.F. Stradford awards to two individuals who have made contributions to the African American community through their professional lives during a ceremony tonight, Tuesday, February 26, 2013.

The Honorable Lewis Nixon, Cook County Circuit Court Judge and Melody Spann Cooper, Chairman, Midwest Broadcasting and President of WVON Radio will receive the office’s C. F. Stradford for their professional excellence and community involvement. 

State’s Attorney Alvarez will also present scholarships for internships in the State’s Attorney’s office to two local high school students. 

The C.F. Stradford Award is named for Cornelius Francis Stradford, a pioneer in the legal community and co-founder of the Cook County Bar Association and the National Bar Association.

The ceremony will be held today, February 26, 2013 at the Parkway Ballroom, 4455 South Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago at 6:30 p.m.
