In case you haven’t heard already, the Chicago Public Library has gone “FINE FREE.” As of October 1, 2019. all existing overdue fines have been wiped from their system and they will no longer charge late fees on most things.

This is one of Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s initiatives to “remove barriers and increase access” for the citizens of Chicago.

This is a great opportunity to return past due library items you have lying around, and fall in love with the Chicago Public Library all over again.

For more details on their new policies, check out the CPL website.
