CHICAGO, IL – U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) released the following statement after Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman escaped for the second time from a Mexican maximum security prison and is currently on the run:

“As Chicago’s Public Enemy No. 1, El Chapo Guzman should be pursued with full engagement of U.S. law enforcement resources to recapture him and extradite him to the U.S. With a current indictment against Guzman, Chicago’s top-level prosecutors stand ready to put Guzman behind bars and put an end to his control of the illegal drug and weapons trade that is breeding violence on Chicago’s streets.”
