CHICAGO, IL  – The price for this year’s Super Bowl tickets are projected to reach an all-time high, selling for nearly $6,500 up from just over $3,000 last year. That’s approximately a 114% increase. Those ticket prices have certainly caught the eye of scammers who will look to take advantage of football fans, particularly the last minute buyers. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) offers tips on how to safely purchase online tickets and to enjoy the game.

* Know the difference between a ticket broker and scalper. A ticket broker is a legitimate a licensed reseller. A ticket scalper is an unregulated and unlicensed.

* Check the ticket broker’s refund policy. Only

BBB offers the following tips for safe ticket purchases:

* Check out the seller/broker. Look them up on bbb.org to see what others have experienced. Check to see if they are a member of the National

* Always use a credit card. By doing so you have some recourse if the tickets are not as promised; do not use cash.

* Check out the seats ahead of time. Always ask for section, row and seat number to avoid obstructed view seats or seats that do not exist. Also, feel free to ask questions to make certain you get all the answers you need to feel comfortable with your ticket purchase.

If you believe you have purchased a counterfeit ticket, immediately report it to the NATB’s hotline at 630-510-4594 and file a complaint with BBB at bbb.org.
