CHICAGO, IL – Apartment inspection app RentSpek announced that the beta launch of it’s mobile web version has doubled their user base in the first 20 days of operation.

The app, developed by Chicago’s Landlord Advisor LLC, allows renters to conduct a thorough inspection of homes and apartments for rent to help streamline their search. The system is designed to increase transparency in the rental process and help tenants ‘rent with confidence’.

“We are very excited to see how the app has taken off” said Phil Castello, founder of Landlord Advisor, LLC. “It’s still early for RentSpek, but this kind of growth is very encouraging for any startup.”

RentSpek users can add notes or pictures to their inspection using their smartphone cameras. The whole process should take less than 20 mins. The user can then revisit the RentSpek reports to compare the properties they’ve toured. !The grade RentSpek developed is based on the same home inspections homebuyers would purchase before buying a home. Landlord Advisor dissected those and developed a unique scoring system based on issues that could arise during a short term living situation. They have a patent pending on this system and have recently filed documents for a full patent.

Castello said the longer term plan for RentSpek is to provide crowd sourced information for rental listings on other apartment search websites and a certification feature allowing Landlords to show that their property is “RentSpek Certified.”

“We’re only marketing in Chicago right now, so we’re not talking astronomical numbers yet. But as more people see what this app is capable of, I think it will become a standard tool for apartment hunters.”

Currently, RentSpek is available on any web enabled device through RentSpek.com.

Castello said the team is working on launching native versions for iPhone and Android in early 2014. Landlord Advisor LLC was founded by Phil Castello in 2012. With the development of RentSpek Paul Zimmerman has joined Landlord Advisor LLC as a Limited Partner.
