CHICAGO, IL – While Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said she was “encouraged to hear President Obama discuss his plans to move our economy forward,” Illinois Republican Party Chairman Jack Dorgan said “President Obama’s trip to Illinois offers nothing but empty rhetoric and no new ideas at a time when Illinoisans continue to struggle under his failed economic policies.”

Released statements from Madigan and Dorgan follows:

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s statement after President Obama’s speech in Galesburg:

“I was encouraged to hear President Obama discuss his plans to move our economy forward. As Attorney General, I have seen firsthand the harm done to our state in the wake of the economic collapse. Entire communities have been ravaged by job losses and the implosion of the housing market. By putting hard-working, middle-class families at the forefront of his agenda, the President knows that our country will not prosper until we lift up everyone, not just the privileged few. I applaud the President’s leadership and his vision for a future in which every American can obtain a good job, earn a quality education, find a safe home, secure a retirement and access affordable health care.”

ILGOP Jack Dorgan’s statement regarding President Barack Obama’s visit to Illinois:

“President Obama’s trip to Illinois offers nothing but empty rhetoric and no new ideas at a time when Illinoisans continue to struggle under his failed economic policies. While we welcome a discussion on the economy, President Obama has pivoted back to the economic discussion countless times, with little to no results to show from it. Job creation is the primary solution to our state and country’s woes. Republican candidates with pro-growth policy agendas will move our state toward fiscal solvency and a brighter future for Illinois families.” resident Obama’s trip to Illinois offers nothing but empty rhetoric and no new ideas at a time when Illinoisans continue to struggle under his failed economic policies.
