After the many times of admonishing you and your staff regarding the many murders taking place in the City of Chicago, my very own nephew was recently killed in South Shore, on the corner of 75th and Yates.  And, not under the guides of night – but daylight.

Each day we continue to hear of yet another family being deprived of loved one to violence in this city, which has become a ‘way-of-life’ for perpetrators who hold the life of another in their trigger-finger!

Well over 49-years have I fought against crime and violence in this city, but did not talk-that-talk, but rather I walked-that-walk, and was then ridiculed for it.  Never have I seen such a resistance to law-and-order as I note today, but again, never in my life have I seen such an orchestration of matters not working coming from the Chicago City Hall!  The Chicago Police department bringing in departmental heads who have little or no knowledge of the streets, and their complexion serves only to enhance street resistance!

I hasten to point out, the absence of the Probation Challenge program and its illegal eviction from the City Colleges/Olive-Harvey College Campus, only proves that ‘them’ ‘they’ and ‘those’ persons who were under the auspices of education were not street-culprits, but were turning their lives around. Now, since City Colleges, then under the guides of Chancellor, Wayne Watson, who turned those that were doing well, back into the streets to cause havoc and mass murder to not hundreds but thousands.  These youth then were forced to turn their backs on education and returned to past behavior. City Colleges was and is under the umbrella of the Mayor’s Office – then Mayor Richard Daley. Why did this happen becomes the question, unless it was a political decision or a reckless device to allow just what’s happening today… in some communities.

And, as I revisit this recent murder of my nephew that has invaded my family-members, and extended family… Mr. Mayor, I assure you, that the fine people of this city will not forget your none existence in that seat in City Hall. You are absent as it relates to our immediate family needs. Stop putting the finger on others… you were hired to bring about truth and solutions.

Mr. Mayor, I suggest that you take a serious look at the wrongs floating around in your administration as it relates to the streets of this city, and that you visit not only those that have fallen victim to murder, all this is  pre-arranged, but, make homes visits deep into the vineyards of the South and Westside of the city, where evil and senseless malice has invaded the ranks of sanity.

And, as you fight to close schools, I might add that you might want to know that some of us who have lived long enough know of the evils that hides behind that issue. None-the-less, I also suggest that you look into ‘Truth and Solutions’ as they were set-forth some while ago by the Probation Challenge Network: WWW.ProbationChallenge.org – The Truth Network, where much of what is happening today was broadcast – then!

Mr. Mayor, where is your vision? What is it that you see? If there is hope, please allow ‘we’ the public to share a drop of it…we can use it!

The Rev. Harold E. Bailey, will briefly discuss: Truth and Solutions’ at the Probation Challenge 34th Annual ‘Portrait of Achievers’ Awards, Dinner, Entertainment and The Show of Shows starring: Marshall Thompson and The Chi-Lites, and the Barrett Sisters with Tina Brown. Also, Kevin Collins.
