It is hoped to be one of the largest single day Organ/Tissue Donation Registration Drives

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will join Rev. James T. Meeks to hold what is hoped to be one of the largest single day organ/tissue registration drives. White will attend services at Salem Baptist Church of Chicago House of Hope Worship Center on Sunday, April 7 at 10 a.m. to encourage organ/tissue donation.

Salem Baptist Church of Chicago House of Hope Worship Center is located at 752 E. 114th St. in Chicago.

Following the service, WVON’s Cliff Kelley and Perri Small will be hosting a telethon.

April is National Donate Life Month. White will be traveling the state as well as working with organizations to promote the importance of organ and tissue donor awareness. In Illinois, more than 5.2 million people have signed up for the registry, but every year about 300 people die waiting for their gift of life.
