SPRINGFIELD, IL – Illinois State SenatorMattie Hunter released a statement today praising the Supreme Court decision cementing the Affordable Care Act as law.  The high court’s decision was the most anticipated ruling in years.

“This decision is a mandate for our country,” said Hunter.  “If you are one of the 30 million Americans who don’t yet have health insurance, starting in 2014 this law will give you an array of quality, affordable, private health insurance plans to choose from.

“Hard working, middle class Americans will now have the opportunity to services they should have had all along, particularly those with pre-existing conditions.   We will see the benefits of this ruling in years to come. The Department of Healthcare and Family services is already analyzing the ruling to better understand what it means for our state in the future.

“I appreciate the Supreme Court for not allowing politics to get in the way of such an important ruling.”
