CHICAGO, IL – For this holiday weekend of Easter and Passover, Chicago Detours is offering extra opportunities for families to get together downtown and engage with the city. The “Inside the Loop” interior architectural tour has an extra tour scheduled for Saturday at 1:30pm and this weekend marks the launch of the new Good Times Historic Bar Tour.

The “Inside the Loop” architectural walking tour appeals to guests all of ages with its interactive dynamic, shared use of iPads, and lively tour guides. This tour, which is offered year-round, works great with Chicago’s unexpected weather conditions as the majority of the tour takes place in the comfort of the indoors.

While the tour is designed for grown-ups, kids with a fascination for buildings and history enjoy the tour, especially with the use of images and video. This tour brings people to explore stories and places locals don’t even know, such as the connection between shopping and women’s liberation, the epic tale of Block 37, and the stained glass windows inside the Chicago Temple Building.
The “Good Times Historic Bar Tour” gives the adult family members a fun experience of drinking, eating, learning, and bonding over stories from history. This walking tour around the Mag Mile area stops for beer or wine at Billy Goat Tavern, Phil Stefani’s 437, and Lawry’s Restaurant. Tour topics include jazz history, the brewery industry, prohibition, illegal gambling and a special kind of theater. Tour includes light appetizers and shared use of iPads with historic photos and video clips. See the video for a better idea of what a good time it is.
