Miami, FL (BlackNews.com) — The company that produces Black Ph.D./Ed.D Magazine will be hosting the 2012 Black Doctorates Conference this summer on June 29 – 30, 2012, in Miami, Florida. The theme this year will be “Black Doctorates: Building Our Future / What’s Next?”, and the conference will fulfill a two-fold purpose:

1. To discuss a plan of action on how to increase the number of Black doctorates.
2. To expose Black youth to Black doctorates as a motivational tool to earn a doctorate and make a difference in the lives of others.

The event will be held at two different locations on different days:

First, on Friday, June 29th, a Lapel Pin Ceremony will be held (at a local church to be announced later) with Doctorates in their full doctoral regalia. The Lapel Pins (Ph.D. and Ed.D) have a hard enamel with a clear stone (shipped in a black velvet box), and were designed by Velma Hepburn, the conference organizer.

In addition, doctorates who earned the degree between the ages of 20 – 37 will be recognized at the ceremony as a motivational factor.

Secondly, on Saturday, June 30th, at Don Shula’s Hotel in Miami Lakes, Florida, there will be two panel discussions on the conference’s theme with strategies that attendees can implement.
