  “A Survivor’s Healing Story”

April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month and just in time to raise awareness about child abuse and its’ devastating after effects.

A unique and exciting new book, When We Get Back Up – A Generation Will Change”, was released in April 2011. The book goes inside the mind of a child victimized by an abusive father. That fearful child was the Author, Sandra D., who experienced a combination of verbal, physical and sexual abuse.

Most children who are sexually abused are abused by a family member or close friend and many incidents of sexual abuse are never reported.

As a fearful child hiding in closets and other secret hiding places, the author used make believe to cope with the realities of abuse.  As a wounded, traumatized adult struggling with deep inner pain, flashbacks, nightmares, out of body experiences, panic attacks, anger, rage and more were symptoms of the abuse.

While facing real life challenges including unhealthy relationships, unwed pregnancy, single parenting, marital abuse, divorce, poverty, depression and hospitalization for a suicide attempt, the author looked for ways to heal personal sorrows and inner pain.  Healing takes time and inner work.  Recovery is an on-going process.

This amazing book, written with open, honest dialogue and a dose of humor, is real and it is raw. Based on personal accounts of actual events and real life experiences, Sandra D. alerts all readers of mature subject matters that may be shocking.

Empower – Heal – Release Anger – Forgive when reading this inspirational, self-help book that comes straight from the heart.
You can purchase the book (paperback, 273 numbered pages, on sale for $12.00) at www.MeetSandraD.com.
